A Few Words About Me
Martin Armitage-Smith

Telephone: +44 (0) 776 850 0725

My name is Martin Armitage-Smith, the founder of Cedar Tree Coaching. I have lived, studied and worked in the UK and North and East Africa. I am married to Jannet, who is originally from Kenya, and we have 3 teenage children.

My interest in psychology probably began when devouring Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie as a 12 year-old. It later emerged at Cambridge, where I stumbled upon Humanistic Psychology, and acquired practical impetus through my 13 year career at Citibank, where I developed a detailed psychological template for my proprietary trading. I saw the intense demands and repetitiveness of that field as providing a great training-ground for building self-awareness and psychological thinking. My diverse career has also included international seminar speaking, game inventing, fine art angel investing, healing, editing, social entrepreneurialism, artist and music events management and new energy technology. This very varied experience has given me a window on the world which I believe can add a lot of value to the coaching alliance.

It has also brought me a very diverse client base which has made me all the more of a believer in the transformative benefits of inter-cultural learning and trans-cultural relationships, whether at home or at work.

I have a 1st class degree from Cambridge University (Arabic and Islamic Studies) and a Diploma in Psychosynthesis Life Coaching fromThe Institute of Psychosynthesis, London. In 2016 I was awarded a MA in Psychosynthesis Organisation and Leadership Coaching from Middlesex University. My thesis examines psychological impacts on identity from (mainly) British colonialism and includes a study on trans-cultural identity.

I am a member of theHolistic Healers Association and a Graduate of Waveform Energetics.
